History:

The Carrie Brazer Center for Autism, and Alternative Approaches, Inc, was founded in late 1999 by Carrie Brazer, a Florida Certified, special education teacher. Carrie has been helping individual families of children with autism since 1995 as an applied behavior analysis specialist and trainer. While teaching full-time in Dade County Public Schools for 5 years, Carrie discovered that classroom sizes were too large to meet the needs of every special child. There was a desperate need for more individualized instruction for special needs children She began teaching our of her home after school each day, providing supplemental training for children diagnosed with autism. Her private practice became overwhelmingly popular, as she integrated strict behavior modification techniques with social skills training on the weekends., by taking the children on community outings such as horseback riding, sailing, the movies, children's theater etc.. Her enrollment became too large for a private program out of her home.
In January, 2000, Carrie formed a 501-c-3, non-for profit organization and developed a very motivated and dedicated board of directors to include:
  • Irving Glicken - Business Consultant
  • Alan Goldberg- Business Owner
  • Julie Wass, Esq. - Attorney
  • Dave Millheiser, Esq. - Attorney
  • Dr. Eric Rydland, M.D.- Pediatrician specializing in Autism
  • Peter Myrtetus- Mortgage Broker
  • Daniel Novela
And an honorary board of directors to include:
  • Dr. Michael Alessandri - President of the Center For Autism & Related disabilities at the University of Miami
  • Ven Sequenzia - President of the Autism Society of Florida
