The Carrie Brazer Center for Autism,
and Alternative Approaches, Inc, was founded in late
1999 by Carrie Brazer, a Florida Certified, special education teacher.
Carrie has been helping individual families of children with autism
since 1995 as an applied behavior analysis specialist and trainer.
While teaching full-time in Dade County Public Schools for 5 years,
Carrie discovered that classroom sizes were too large to meet the
needs of every special child. There was a desperate need for more
individualized instruction for special needs children She began
teaching our of her home after school each day, providing supplemental
training for children diagnosed with autism. Her private practice
became overwhelmingly popular, as she integrated strict behavior
modification techniques with social skills training on the weekends.,
by taking the children on community outings such as horseback riding,
sailing, the movies, children's theater etc.. Her enrollment became
too large for a private program out of her home.
In January, 2000, Carrie formed a 501-c-3, non-for profit organization
and developed a very motivated and dedicated board of directors
