Myofascial Structural Integration
This holistic approach will promote
a general sense of health and well-being in your special child,
and is instrumental to your child's development. Massage therapy
is one of the most important steps in treating sensory defensiveness.
By treating the touch system, we can influence other sensory systems
as well.
Our techniques will enhance communication
of the neuromuscular system and increase tactile sensory awareness.
Once we understand each child's behavior, we can provide activities
and sensory input that can eliminate the defensiveness. After the
intervention, a child will be more likely to allow the introduction
of new stimuli such as: the touching & interacting with animals,
grass or sand on their feet, the feel of sensory vibrating toys,
silly putty, playdough, tags on clothing, and much, much more.
About
At the Carrie Brazer Center For Autism,
our Chiropractors use the Upper Cervical technique which is non-invasive
and deals with realigning the atlas, the first bone of the spine.
The atlas, which sits adjacent to the hind part of the brain,
often mis-aligns during the birth process. This atlas misalignment,
termed subluxation, when realigned
has shown to help the body to correct or improve the condition of
a variety of disorders.
In children specifically; improvements in hyperactivity, attention
deficit, and speech disorders are well documented.
Goals
Our goal is to educate families and
assist their children in removing physical blocks that interfere
with their bodies functioning at full potential. According to the
International
Chiropractic Pediatric Association, there is a positive relationship
between cranial motion restrictions and learning disabilities, as
well as with children who have been hindered by an obstetrically
complicated delivery.
With a regular and regimented care schedule,
we have seen significant changes in our children, such as increase
in eye-contact, the ability to stay on task for longer periods of
time, less tamtruming behaviors, and a significant decrease in distractability.
Moreover, parents have noticed a dramatic decrease in ear infections
and the use of antibiotics. Chiropractic care has been proven to
improve conditions of otitis media.
Summary
Children at the Carrie Brazer Center
learn to become aware of their tactile defenses and allow for introduction
of new stimuli, foods, textures, and play. Chiropractic Care is
just one more piece of the very difficult puzzle to healing the
Autisitc child. Healing through touch, massage & manipulation
are all essential in integrating the senses.
